Why You're Still Single: things your friends would tell you if you promised not to get mad, is a refreshing, heartfelt and blunt approach to the single life.
This 'what you're doing wrong' guide is written by Evan Marc Katz and Linda Holmes, who, through their personal stories, anecdotes and theories become the friends we wish we had but don't always want to listen to. While there are many books out there on dating discussing the pros, the cons, the deal-breakers and exactly how to meet Mr or Mrs. Right, Why You're Still Single is an easy, honest and humorous read that reaffirms many of the lessons we tell each other but forget to practice ourselves.
The authors banter back and forth from chapter to chapter in agreement on a glimpse of dating from a man's and woman's perspective. Nothing is discussed in the book that we haven't heard before but it goes to show how often we need to hear things like 'don't settle' and 'don't try to change your mate'.
Katz challenges the popular dating guide The Rules and offers a more current and up-to-date approach to the dating do's and don'ts of the 21st century. While The Rules gave us the outline to game playing, this book blows the games out of the water for a refreshing and less exhausting way to dating and co-existing in established relationships.
In one chapter it is explained that both men and women tend to try and fit square pegs into round holes when it comes to dating and continue to try and make relationships work for the sake of not wanting to give up or waste the effort the have already put into Mr. or Mrs. Wrong. Why You're Still Single frankly sheds light on this topic and others including; You're Knocking Yourself Out of the Game, You're Just Not That Into Yourself, You're Missing the Signals For When to Get Out, and more.
In reading this book you'll find yourself nodding along with a grin when the realization hits you that you're guilty of such and such behavior although you've vowed never to be 'that type of girl or guy'. While it might always be a scary world out there in single-town it's safe to say that after reading this book you will find renewed confidence, goals and standards.
