Welcome to DivaTribe

A diva accepts herself as she is right now and strives to be even better.
She doesn't change who she is to fit someone else's idea of what she ought to be.
She reaches for her own ideal sense of whom she wants to be.
She's strong; she's courageous; she's creative.

Book Reviews - Writing and Other Creative Topics
Written by Jennifer Thompson
Art de la Soul cover Kathy Cano Murillo is the Crafty Chica (www.craftychica.com), and her latest book Art de la Soul: Glittery Ideas to Liven Up Your Life is full of both inspiring crafts and wonderful dialogue as Kathy shares her own anecdotes about what it means to be a crafty and creative person.  Her book is full of gorgeous photos and easy  to follow step-by-step directions for thirty projects ranging from Corazón Candles to White Chocolate Skulls to Potions for Pasión.

Kathy has written a book that, upon reading it, leaves you feeling like you've been crafting with a dear friend all afternoon.  Her spunk and spirit fill every page, and her project ideas are fun as they are and also serve as excellent launching pads for other ideas that are sure to come to the reader.

Says Kathy, in her introduction:

"The bliss extends beyond the tangible.  As a woman, I've used art to express my strength.  As a Latina, I've used it to connect to my culture.  As a mom, wife, and daughter, I've used it to preserve memories of my family and to honor my ancestors.  This is what being a crafty chica is all about."

Art de la Soul is broken up into ten categories, each with three projects: Tiempo de Soledad, La Familia, La Cocina Buena, La Diva Fashionista, Te Amo, Las Luminarias, Patio Pleasures, Día de los Muertos, Chic Cosas and Cozy Comadres.  She includes templates  when appropriate as well as a listing of resources and suppliers.

Throughout the book are excerpts from "Diary of a Crafty Chica" - Kathy's own stories and musings about crafting, life, family and so forth.  These are a joy to read and half the fun of the book!
