Tips for Stree-Free Mornings
1. Do as much as you can the night before. Set out clothes, get backpacks, briefcases and purses organized, set up the coffee maker, make lunches, set out breakfast dishes.
2. Create a staging area near the door for things that are going out the next day. Maybe each person has a basket or hook to hold his/her items, or you have a designated spot to collect everything. Just be sure everything is there the night before so that there is no mad rush looking for lost papers, books, etc. in the morning.
3. Keep your car keys in one place, and get in the habit of always putting them there as soon as you come in side. There's nothing worse than being in a panic as oyu look for lost car keys! A hook by the door works wonders.
4. Get up fifteen minutes earlier than you need to. Use this time for reflection, checking email, stretching - whatever leaves you feeling ready to start the day.
5. Turn off the TV. It's a distraction and almost guaranteed to slow people down in the morning. Catch up on the news at night, grab a paper at lunch, or read the headlines online.
