I knit these leg warmers for my five and a half year old daughter to wear to ballet. They have some shaping to them - they're narrower at the ankle and get wider as they hit the calf. There is 2x2 ribbing at the ankle and at the top. The leg warmers are about 14 inches long, with about 1 1/4" of ribbing at the bottom and 2" of ribbing at the top.
If you're comfortable knitting in the round, you can probably easily convert these directions and avoid having to sew any seams at the end. Also, I think they can be modified to suit the size you need, as long as you take some measurements first and plan your increases and length accordingly.
Materials: Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Yarn - two skeins Size 5 needles
