A diva accepts herself as she is right now and strives to be even better.

Girls Knit Leg Warmers photoI knit these leg warmers for my five and a half year old daughter to wear to ballet.  They have some shaping to them - they're narrower at the ankle and get wider as they hit the calf.  There is 2x2 ribbing at the ankle and at the top.  The leg warmers are about 14 inches long, with about 1 1/4" of ribbing at the bottom and 2" of ribbing at the top.

If you're comfortable knitting in the round, you can probably easily convert these directions and avoid having to sew any seams at the end.  Also, I think they can be modified to suit the size you need, as long as you take some measurements first and plan your increases and length accordingly.

Materials:
Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Yarn - two skeins
Size 5 needles

Gauge (approximately):
20 stitches = 4"
28 rows = 4"

Directions:
Cast on 36 stitches.
Rows 1-10: K2 P2
Row 11: Knit across
Row 12: Purl across
(Rows 11 and 12 make up the stockinette stitch)
Rows 13 - 34: Continue in stockinette
Row 35: Inc by one stitch at beginning and end of row (total stitches now up to 38)
Row 36: Purl acorss
Row 37: Knit across
Row 38: Purl across
Repeat rows 35 - 38 6 more times.  (You will be up to 50 stitches and finished with row 62 when you are done.)
Rows 63 - 84: Work in stockinette stitch
Row 85: K2 P2
Row 86: P2 K2
Rows 87 - 96: repeat rows 85 nd 86.
Row 97: K2 P2
Row 98: Bind off in P2 K2.

Sew the seam for each leg warmer and you're done!
