Pitch Like a Girl coverPitch Like a Girl: How a Woman Can Be Herself and Still Succeed
by Ronna Lichtenberg

This book is full of great information, and it basically categoriezes styles into two groups, pink and blue. Pinks are generally but not always female and blues are generally but not always male. Blues value credentials, numbers, facts and figures. Pinks value relationships and the personal touch. My description is a big oversimplification, but you get the basic idea. And there is plenty of cool brain research to back up the details in the book.

Unfortunately, I felt that one minute this book was being written in 'blue' style and then next minute it switched over to 'pink' style. The author could have written two books instead - 'Pitch for Blues' and 'Pitch for Pinks'. As for my own results, I expected to come out in the midrange between pink and blue (lavender? ha ha ha) and was surprised to find that I'm very 'pink' in nature.

One of the most valuable concepts presented in this book was "Me, Inc." - to treat your own self as a business. Despite my desire to resist this concept, once it was in my head I found myself thinking about it a lot. I've begun to treat some of my personal issues with the same approach a project manager would take to resolve issues for a client, and it works
quite well.

Overall, this is a valuable read if you can stifle the yawning through the sections that read blue (if you're pink) or that read pink (if you're blue).
