Painting Ceramic Tiles
What you'll need:
- primer
- high gloss paint oil based paint
- sand paper
- cleaning supplies
- tile/grout sealer
- grout colorant application kit (grout color & brush)
- masking tape

Prep your tiled area by cleaning off debris and scrubbing thoroughly. Take a piece of sandpaper and vigorously rub down your tiled area. (this creates grooves in your tile to absorb primer, paint and sealer)
Take a wide brush and liberally apply primer. I did two coats but you could probably get away with one if you apply it thick.
Let dry for 24 hours take a semi-wide brush and paint over the tile with the color of your choice in a high gloss oil paint. Take care around the grout edges. You can paint over them but be sure to clean out excess paint so you don't have a uniform table. Let the first coat dry for 24 hours (depended on coverage do one more coat and again let stand for 24 hours)
Use a grout colorant application kit to clean and color the grout and provide the desired look. Let dry for 2 hours (no more than 24) and clean excess grout off of tiles.
Liberally apply sealant. Be sure to let this dry for 24 hours without putting anything on it and let dry for a week before a vigorous scrub. (Sealant will need to be applied once a year depending on high traffic areas)
Remember that painted tiles will not be as hard as original tile.
