Goal Sisters: Live the Life You Want with a Little Help from Your Friends
by Ann Leach and Michelle Beaulieu Pillen
Women know that when they join together and support each other, they
can accomplish anything. But between work, family, exercise, volunteer
work, book clubs, and the multitude of other things women find
themselves involved with, how exactly do they go about finding that
vital support when it comes time to do so? And when they do find one
another, how do they support each other beyond the occasional phone
call or coffee?
Goal Sisters
is all about finding someone when we want that extra help, that extra
support, that extra concern. Authors Ann Leach and Michelle Beaulieu
Pillen are the original goal sisters, and they wrote their book to
share with women everywhere what they learned about the process of
building and nurturing a supportive female relationship. Can women be
successful all by themselves? Of course. Can't we just call a friend
when we need a pick-me-up or a pat on the back? Absolutely. But aren't
there times when the extra cheering, the extra accountability, the
extra prodding - from someone who's been there with us every step of
the way - make the tough times easier and the victories sweeter? That's
what Goal Sisters is all about.
Goal Sisters
is divided into three parts: Embarking on the Goal Sister Process;
Living La Vida Goal Sister; and Goals Will Keep Us Together. Part I is
devoted to showing women how to find potential goal sisters and
approach them. Part II is the nuts and bolts of meeting with your goal
sister, overcoming obstacles and making sure that having a goal sister
works for both women. Part III is about extending the goal sister
relationship with overnight get-togethers, as well as maintaining
successes and finding new goal sisters. Throughout the book are
exercises to work on and questions to ask yourself, and each chapter
has a brief summary to wrap up the big ideas.
The book is full of anecdotes from real goal sisters to illustrate
ideas and give examples of what might happen when one embarks on the
goal sister journey. The anecdotes also help us learn how to take our
friendships to the next level and make them work to our very best
advantage. Reading them, I couldn't help but imagine my own goal sister
and the fun we could have encouraging each other to reach our full
potentials! Goal Sisters
is for women who have big ideas about what they want from life and
aren't afraid to find someone else to help them down that path.
