Answers for Women's Health Questions, by D. Lindsey Berkson
Do you suffer from allergies or arthritis? Migraines? High blood
pressure? Are you in the midst of menopause? Do you have a daughter
entering puberty? We all suffer from something at one point
or another, and women have unique needs as a result of fluctuating
hormone levels throughout their cycles and their lives. Natural
Answers for Women's Health Questions is just what
its title claims: "a comprehensive A-Z guide to drug-free
mind-body remedies". The book offers explanations
of over 200 health concerns as well as natural solutions
to promote health, including foods to eat or avoid, nutritional
supplements to take, herbal remedies to consider, and advice
on activities like exercise, meditation and visualization.
Unlike other books on "natural" or "alternative" health care, this book offers a uniquely female perspective.
Ms. Berkson discusses the role hormones play in everything from
fibroids to pregnancy. She talks about birth control pills and
how they affect such things as breast cancer and headaches.
There is a section on breastfeeding and concerns a breastfeeding
mother may have, such as cracked nipples or mastitis. There
is information in this book about hormone replacement therapy,
anorexia and menopause. This book is written for women, thereÌs
no doubt about it.
In addition to the more than 200 entries on everything from
acne and addiction to weight and yeast infections, there are
twelve appendices and a six-page glossary. The topics of the
appendices include hormone testing, "green drink"
(recipes for some healthy drinks), vitamin interactions, and
detoxifying yourself. Natural
Answers for Women's Health Questions offers specific,
solution-oriented natural remedies highlighting food, beverages,
supplements (nutrient and herbal), self-help reflex points,
exercises, affirmations and meditations. If youÌre interested
in reading about natural alternatives to drug treatments for
what ails you, this is a good book to check out.
