It surprises me that we've never seen anyone of the fashion runways wearing the hijab.  Of course, the hijab is worn mostly by Muslim women in respect to their religion.  However I have two muslim girl friends who wear the hijab everyday and expressed my curiousity about it to them.  They taught me how to properly wear the hijab and suggested that I try wearing it for a while to give it a chance, which I did, everyday for three weeks.  I've learned to love wearing the hijab (note that I'm not Muslim).  The colours of them and the materials they are made from are really quite delightful.  During the time I wore (and still do quite often) the hijab, I also often wore the veil.  It just seems as if wearing the hajab means that people can no longer judge you for your $100 hairdo and in the case of the veil they can no longer judge you for your looks at all.  Actually in that sense I've found it quite liberating.  I guess my real point is, why are the fashion houses not on the bandwagon and suggesting the hijab as a fashion accessory, I'm sure there are lots of women, regardless of religion, who would be happy to wear the hajib if they just once tried it.  Any opinions?

I think I understand your point, but I think it would be really hard to just wear something like that that has been associated with a specific religion/culture as a new fashion trend.

I also am sure some people of that faith may even find it disrespectful, no?

Perhaps you're right, certainly no offence of any kind was intended.  It's just that personally I found it to be a beautiful garment.

i think the hijab is a beautiful piece of garment but i don't think i'd wear it. it's out of respect to the religion and their purpose of using it
