Anyone trying to establish some new habits or take up a new pasttime for the new year?  I decided to bite the bullet and buy myself a new DSLR camera which should be here next week.  Can't wait to start trying it out!

As for habits, I'm still struggling with stretching every day because in order to really stretch, I have to warm up first, and that takes time and effort.  So I'll work on it and see if I can make some progress.

For me it is adding yoga and pilates to my workouts.  I exercise 6-7 days per week but it is mostly spin classes with kickboxing thrown in and some sculpt workouts/weights work.  I think it is time to add some yoga and pilates.

I managed to floss before bedtime 10 days before the start of the new year so I was not bleeding from my gums by the 1st.  so starting off the new year with healthier gums (and keeping up with the flossing) is one of mine.
For hobbies - I write for children. I have had about 12 magazine pieces published but I need to get off my can and start pushing myself to submit to agents so I can get my book manuscripts out there where they belong.  I have been too wrapped up in personal junk to do that, and it is a darn shame because they belong in the hands of kids!

I am learning to play guitar (I got one for Christmas), so that's my newest hobby!  smile

Having vacation time, I've one some stretching most days this month, plus stretching at class this week, too.  I got a strap with a Christmas gift card that has added some variety to how I stretch, and I find that novelty will motivate me in anything....for a while. Wink

Still waiting for my camera - should be here Monday!

That is awesome! I used to play, though out of practice, I started teaching DS when he was about 12 (he has since passed me up!)

What kind did you get? I have an acoustic Fender, and DS has a First Act Electric, an Gibson Electric (gift from his Grandparents) and an Ibenez Electric Bass his friend gave him because the pick-up was broken (DH  fixed it in about 30 seconds - but the friend let him keep in anyway!)

Do you read music or are you learning tabs? Either way, http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/ is a great resource for songs to practice on!

I got what DH describes as a "base model."  It's a Fender Squier.  DH has a lot of guitars; not sure of all of them but his favorite is a Gibson Les Paul gold top.  I don't read music - yet!  smile  Thanks for the link, Jenn!!  I'm off to check it out.

I want to get out more.  I think I tend to be a hermit and I'd really like to say 'yes' to more experiences.

I love Pilates.  I'm taking a mat class twice a week, and I always leave feeling refreshed.

I would love to take some classes - the Y that I goes to has a Saturday Power Yoga class that I am psyched to try this weekend.  Pilates has not worked out for me from a scheduling perspective.

Yoga is way harder than I gave it credit for, I have to say!

I enjoyed yoga very much when I used to go to a weekly class, years ago.

I went to a Power Yoga class at the Y this a.m. and whoa!  I am sore!!  I spin often and also do some running as well as FIRM workouts and never thought yoga would make me so sore.  I loved the class though and am happy that I mustered up the courage to give it a whirl.  I think it is exactly what I am needing.

I need to start exercising again now that I have had the baby. I want to start using my treadmill and this spring, I will walk daily if it's nice to the park with the baby in his stroller. I am hoping that will help me lose the pounds I gained with the baby.
