Last night DH's heart acted up again. I thought everything was normal, we had been rushing around trying to get everything done for Christmas, the boys were finally in bed, and I thought we were going to relax, an wrap some gifts. I looked at DH and could see he wasn't right - he was really pale, short of breathe, and rubbing his chest... He tried to deny it, but when I took his pulse it was obviously out of whack again.

I made him take an aspirin, but it took 2 hours to get him to agree to have my sister came over and sleep on our couch, while I took him to the ER.

It was so surreal - like what happened almost 2 years ago. They rushed him in, shaved his chest, put the monitors on, and his heart was not in normal rhythm. Then, after awhile, he slipped back in to a normal rhythm again.

At around 3:00 AM, the Dr. said he wanted DH monitored until the Cardiologist could see him - earliest would be  7:00 AM... He probably broke every ER rule, but he let DH spend the night in the ER, because admitting him would have meant he would be there until after Christmas.

I went home around 5 AM, relieved my sister, slept for 2 hours, got the boys off to school, and went back. By 8:45, DH was having a Stress test - which went really well - thank God!

So, we waited another 5 painful hours, and they said DH could go home - one one condition - that he go straight to the Cardiologist's office and get a 30 day Heart Monitor.

We went straight there, and learned how it works and I feel much better now. It is a 24/7 real time monitor, anytime DH starts to feel heart pain, he hits the button, it records his heart activity, it gets reported to the Dr. and they tell him if he needs medical attention.

After 30 days, they will evaluate the results and determine if DH needs a Pace-Maker. I hope he doesn't, but that is better than the alternative!

I am just so thankful right now that DH is safe and home with us. The thought of losing him is truly more than I, or the boys could bare.

This will be a very special Christmas now.

I'd be freaking out!!! Good for you for MAKING him go! (MEN!  hammer)

The great thing is now he has the monitor, so you all should be able to feel more at ease during the holidays!

I hope that it's nothing too serious (as in> not requiring the pacemaker!)
