Has anybody made any changes to their finanical world since the "crisis" hit?  Any changes to retirement contributions or IRAs, or other financial changes?

DH and I were discussing our 401(k)s and what we wanted to do, if anything.  My thinking is that we're in this for a long time (we're in our 30s), so we should keep contributing, but DH is not a risk taker and he would prefer to reduce his contributions and put the other money into CDs.

We haven't changed anything.  We're 10+ years from retirement so we're leaving it all be.

I've been pretty frugal since BEFORE this all hit. Nothing much has changed since then. I will be eligible for a 401K at work starting in January.  I haven't put anything in my IRA for months because we get a better payoff it seems by putting it into our joint money market savings.

One option to consider is a Roth IRA - here's a wikipedia article about it:

My husband and I have definitely changed our lifestyle, but it's been gradual over the last 8-9 months, as the real estate market has crashed. We've gone from dinners out several times/week to maybe once/month.
I'm also MUCH more cash-conscious, about how capitalized I am, and am quite aware of how fragile my financial stability is, with rental properties that could stop performing at any time. It's definitely a scary time to be in real estate, but it's also a good time to be investing, if you can afford it.
