I've had a curiosity about shampoo bars/solid shampoo, so I decided to go ahead and give one a try.  I actually got two - a sample size and a full size, but different formulas.  From what I've read, your hair can be kind of "funky" for up to  a week or two, and mine definitely is right now!  I've used the bar twice now and followed it today with an apple cider vinegar rinse as I've seen recommended.  Anyway, I'll give it at least a week before I render my final verdict.  Stay tuned!  rotf

Day 3: I lathered twice and rinsed with an apple cider vinegar/water solution twice.  My hair feels better and combed out more easily while wet.  We'll see how it fares as the day wears on!

I ordered this from http://www.jlynnecosmetics.com/ - I've ordered makeup samples from this indie shop before (the owner is quite nice smile) and was placing an order for some powders.  Since she is discontinuing the solid shampoo bars, I decided to go ahead and buy one.  You get a free sample with orders so I ordered a different bar for my sample.

Day #5 and my hair feels better but still funky.  I'm giving it a few more days though.  I do wonder if the hard water here is too much for the shampoo?

Day #7 and my hair basically feels back to normal.  I used some leave-in conditioner last night on the ends, though.  I'll give it another week and see if my hair seems better than before - otherwise, what's the point?

I have never heard of this - what exactly is a solid shampoo?

It's basically a bar of soap designed to be used as shampoo.

I made it through Day 9 but went back to shampoo this morning.  My hair just wasn't getting past the feeling of being coated, kind of waxy feeling.

But I'm glad that I finally satisfied my curiosity about it.

Glad you tried it. I don't think I could ever not use "regular" shampoo.  Otherwise I think I'd feel too much like a guy, washing their hair with the bar of soap LOL.

Has anyone used any of the powdered shampoos before? I'm seeing more ads for them, especially with people trying to come up with ways to avoid carrying liquids when they travel/not checking bags.

Bumble and Bumble has amazing hair powder that allows you to extend your time in between washings to keep your hair healthier.  it is also great if you wear the thick/chunky bang look as it gives texture.

Wow! I had never heard of that before - now I really want to try it! My hair gets terribly dried out if I wash it more than 3 x a week, which leads to some greasy looking, ponytail days!

How strong is the tint in each one? I am debating between the red & brown, I'm not sure which one would blend better for me...

Not strong.  Shoot - when I was younger I used to just use a tiny bit of baby powder.  I have black hair, and I did fine, so I don't think you need to worry.  I bet either one will work for you.
