Today I witnessed a horrible accident on the way home from work, and it really shook me up.  Maybe even more so, because of the bad accident our nephew had over the weekend...

About a block out of the Industrial Center where our shop is, I had just as I passed through the intersection. I saw brake lights, cars swerving, a car drove off the right side of the road, then a body went flying through the air and landed face down in the grass beside the highway... Then I realized there was a sport bike motorcycle ghost riding down the road - it hit the back of a truck and finally landed on the side of the road. The truck pulled over, then I pulled over in front of it and called 911.

They said they would send help ASAP, then instructed me to stay on the scene in case the police needed to question me.

Ironically, DH had just finished inspecting a patrol car, and was in the car with the officer when he got the call. So, they were already on the way to the scene when I hysterically called him to tell him what I saw.

I thought for sure he was dead. He was just laying there face down on the ground... A man had left his vehicle, and was comforting him. I stayed in my car because I didn't think I could handle seeing anyone that way...

Finally the paramedics arrived. After what seemed like ages, DH called and told me the guy was alive, conscious, and able to speak.. That was amazing, considering how far he flew - and how far apart his bike and his body landed. Thankfully, he was wearing a full-face helmet, and proper riding gear - otherwise he would likely be dead.

I did not see what caused the accident, I just happened along right afterwards, so I had no useful information for the police, and was allowed to leave. But, the whole thing was horrible, and it totally freaked me out.

It just shows how anyone's life can totally change in an instant.

Wow.  It really is amazing he's alive.  I'm sorry you had to see it firsthand; that is quite a lot to deal with.   hug

My husband witnessed a woman crossing a busy main road and get hit by a car, and then die right then and there one day last week when he stopped at the 7-11 on his way to work to get his morning coffee. It really affected him badly.

That is truly horrible! I cannot even imagine how hard that was for your DH to witness.

How is he doing?
