Taking any green vacations? It seems like some folks are going long term with this sort of thing....

It's an interesting story about how a UK family turned their ancestral home into an eco timeshare, but I'm not completely convinced. I mean, there are all these articles and books about how living "green" is a lot more complicated than buying carbon credits or driving a hybrid, but as far as I know having an eco-friendly primary home is one of the most definite ways to reduce your footprint. But an eco timeshare? What if you spend more energy getting to it than you would living in it? And what's the point if the timeshare is eco, but not very enjoyable to spend time in?

What's your priority when considering a green vacation?

My main priority is the vacation. Personally I'd much prefer a green tour or green cruise than a green timeshare. Before my main reasons for not signing on would be how I don't like being committed to a single place, but now with the economy in the swill there are even more valid reasons, no matter how green. Just to get rid of one you're probably going to need help from a timeshare relief agency or consumer group, for one. No matter how green it is, you'll probably end up losing green  not worthy
