DS left at 5:00 this morning for his school trip to Washington DC, Colonial Williamsburg, and Busch Gardens. It is such a weird feeling, the only time he has ever been away from home for more than 1 night was when he went to Lacrosse camp, at my old college, about 10 miles away. The  capital is about a 6 hour drive from here, will he will be gone for 4 days/3 nights! I know he is in good hands, our school has been doing this trip annually for over 28 years, but it was still hard to let him go! It is ironic, because when my class went, my Mom would not let me go, and I thought she was an over-protective nut! But, DH went with his class, and said it was one of the best experiences he had growing up.

DH keeps saying "just cut the cord"! LOL! Now I am glad we got him a cell phone, so I can reach him while he is gone!

It is so oddly quiet here! Our house is usually so full of the ruckus of boys, but, tonight DS is out of town,  DH has a class, 8 yo DS is down the street at a friends house, and I am here all alone in a quiet house for the first time since probably before I had kids! LOL! I am totally going to embarrass DS later when I call him to say goodnight though!  bouncing lol

I sent my well adjusted son on a 4 day trip  with his peers, and I picked up a complete stranger.

I do not who this kid I picked up is - but he is not the same kid we dropped off!

He came home with all of these new phrases, lingo's, and is, suddenly, "friends" with the kids that I would rather he strayed as far from as possible!

The first few days he was back he was terrible to deal with - he was like some sort of pre-Madonna - "it is all about me" total pain in the ass. So, we all tried to ignore it. But, I had to draw the line after he had brought his brother to tears at least 3 times.

After that I had to lay down the Law - we do not insult our family - we do not treat them with disrespect - we are always honest - because the truth is always better than a lie.... Now, DS is back on probation.

Meanwhile, he was invited to play on the summer LAX Tournament Team, which is "invitation only" and only the "best" players are asked.... This would take a huge commitment on our part, traveling to 3 major Tournaments, each one over 450 miles from here....

I just do not how to deal with this!

If the LAX keeps him too tired and busy to get into trouble, I'd say do the LAX. Wink
