Tonight is the big night - DS's "middle school prom." I posted before about the drama of another boy trying to "steal" DS's date: "the good girl", the coincidence of her Dad becoming a new customer, and then finally, her text messaging DS to say she would go to the dance with him...
I was so overwhelmed all week, I totally spaced, and forgot to order her corsage!

Fortunately, a friend of a friend owns a flower store, and was able to create the most beautiful wrist corsage - with only 2 hours notice!
DS was so cute, and so nervous, getting ready for the dance - he borrowed DH's cologne, and DH had to help him with his tie!
I drove him over to his date's, friend's house - who was hosting the pre-dance party. DS was so nervous, he kept saying he felt like he was going to be sick. I was nervous myself - I did not know the family hosting the party... and I still can't believe DS is really 14, graduating middle school, and going to a formal dance with a date!
We got there, met the friends parents, and was greatly relieved to see one of the Mom's shuttling the kids to the dance was a neighbor, who had also been my most respected professor in college! She was astounded by DS - she hadn't seen him since he was little - and she managed to get pictures of DS giving his date her corsage, and got some really cute pictures of them together, and is going to email them to me.
I (of course) in the chaos, had neglected to bring my camera in to the house.

Then, I finally got to meet his dates Mom, who it turns out it very good friends with my professor! So, what could have been really awkward, was a nice introduction.
I was able to talk with her, and nail down the rest of the details (after the dance, all of the kids are going to eat at the local dinner) and confirm that she was driving the kids, and will bring DS home at the end of the night.
I cannot wait to hear how the whole night went!
