I've been challenged to identify and pursue my personal passion.  Which sounds like it should be easy - but it's not!  I've started a list of possible hobbies/passions and am just wondering what some of yours are?  This would be my avocation; the hobby/past-time that really gets my juices flowing and gives me personal satisfaction.  I always used to get this from my job, but that's not the case anymore and it's a chance for me to find and follow what I love.  If only I knew what that was!

I believe you that it is not nearly as easy as one would think to describe what really makes them tick! I have been trying to figure that out for decades!  big grin

I remember in school, taking some sort of personality test that showed the sorts of careers and jobs we would be happiest in. But, then again, you have to wonder how true those tests are.

I would love to hear about your progress - please post anything useful you find!

A couple for me that come to mind quickly would be ballet, and caring for cats. cat  diva  I suppose if money were no object I would try to come up with some way to rescue and foster cats year-round.

That's a GREAT one, Jen!   yippee  I'm having a hard time with this "assignment."  I can come up with hobby ideas, but they aren't really my passion, KWIM?  I'm still working on the list, though.  I've got a few weeks before I have to discuss it.  If nothing else, it's opened my eyes to several new hobbies I'd like to try.

What's the latest on this one?   smile

So, the truth is this was a homework assignment from my psychologist.  I took her my list of hobbies, and she pointed out they weren't passions; they were hobbies; and sent me off to try again.  What I have since figured out is that I am passionate about myself and making the life for myself that I want.  So I started my Total Money Makeover and became active in SparkPeople to get the weight off.  These are my two passions and I am pursuing them.....passionately.  LOL   clap  I haven't been back to my psych's office yet (I go in for tune-ups for the most part) but I am looking forward to sharing my news with her.  I feel really good about it and it's going well.

It sounds like you've identified some areas you feel strongly about at this point in your life! thumbs up

p.s. How is spark people working for you?  I belonged to it for  awhile and thought it was a really cool site, but it made me obsessive about numbers which is a bad path for me to go down, so I stopped using the site...

I need the structure and black-and-white facts right now; I do worry that down the road I'll have to deal with my obsessiveness again, but for now it's a healthy, positive experience.  smile

My passion is Pregnancy and Childbirth and infancy,  All three rolled up together. Ask yourself this, if you had ll the money in the world what would you do?  That is your passion, it isn't neccessarily something you are able to do rght now, but it is your dream, what do you want to do?

Mine would be a home for single pregnant women, of any age, a place for them to get support thrughout their pregnancy and beyond, the support to know they can raise a child on their own and realize that they can fulfill their dreams with a child.

That's a great example of a passion!
