I understand because I am the same way. I especially notice I eat more if I am home and bored.  Also, if it's in the house, I will eat it because I will crave it knowing it's there.  I wish I had some advice myself because I suck in this area too. It especially is bad during the holidays where lots and lots of bad food is everywhere!

Are you also exercising aerobically to burn calories, or are you trying to diet alone to lose the weight?  Sometimes depriving ourselves leads to those constant cravings!

I have been trying to do at least a half hour of cardio every other day (sometimes daily is just not realistic!).

Also instead of eating less, I try to eat healthier.  I mean, to me, it's better to fill up on a lot of fruits and veggies and some carbs, then say, McDonald's.

I just think sometimes it's this time of year. At least on the East coast where it's super cold and depressing from like November-March and dark early to boot!

In my work life,  I also have had a ton of down-time which has led to bordem which has led to eating.  That's because I am basically just hanging out while they figure out my new position at work which should happen sometime in January..........

exercise is definitely key to losing weight. cardio is great. also, when it comes to your diet, avoid high carb foods. ever notice that after a meal of pasta or something heavy, you go into "food coma"? when you finally snap out, you're craving those fatty foods again. it's difficult in the beginning to lose weight. just keep in mind that losing weight takes time and dedication. good luck! hope things work out

I totally agree with the advice about eating right and exercise. Unfortunately, that's really the only healthy way to change your body. I find that reading help books about positive self image and healthy eating and watching similarly themed TV shows helps motivate me. I can totally relate to wanting to lose weight right now though as I just gave birth and went from  feeling like a glowing princess to an exhausted slug. A friend of mine told me recently about a show She thinks I should watch called  “How To Look Good Naked". Apparently it's all about improving how you feel about yourself just as you are. Might be worth checking out? It has Carson from Queer eye too so it should be educational AND funny. Stay positive and seriously consider diet and exercise!

ahh i kept hearing about this show and I saw a commercial for it on TV last night. Friday night is usually my “dull” night of tv, but How To Look Good Naked will be showing for the first time (lifetime) so at least I have one thing to look forward to this friday night tv-wise.

I really love how Lifetime is showing real people, when the trend is so obviously in the opposite direction these days. Glad to see a non-trashy reality show!

I can relate to what you are saying. A few years ago I really wanted to lose about 10 pounds. The more I tried to watch what I ate, the more I WANTED to eat! Then, the more I exercised, the hungrier I was! It seemed for mew, that the more I focused on it, the harder it was to reach my goal.

For me what worked was not eating less, just eating a little differently. I cut out fried foods, started eating a lot more raw vegetables, switched to all light dairy products, and ate more lean meat & fish instead of red meat.

Then, instead doing of high impact exercises at the gym that left me starving, I did more low impact stretching and Palates type exercises.

But, I think the biggest help was to not allow myself to focus too much on it. Soon, I began to notice that my waistband was getting loose, and my "skinny jeans" fit again.

Good luck!

Much agreed about a quality non-trashy reality show. I watched and it was a breath of fresh air for me personally. Very inspiring, and very funny. How Carson got that woman to take off her clothes and change her self image so drastically is beyond me, but he obviously knows what hes doing!

My advice would be to find out what Body type you are and go from there.  I weighed 280 last week, I found out that I am an A Body Type ct meat from my diet and lost 11 lbs in 7 days.  Here is a website where you answer some questions and then it tells you what Body type you are, I also confirmed this with a nutritionist I know.

http://www.weightcontroldoctor.com.au/quiz.php?quiz=14

Then you can go to this website and get some info on what foods to eat and what foods to avoid.  Diets don't w0rk but changing your lifestyle does.
