We went to contract this morning on the house we are planning to buy!

I am excited.  I feel a sense of relief finally.  Hopefully there will be no bad  "surprises".

We are scheduled to close on or around 2/20/08.

The seller and her attorney are very slow and non-chalant about things, which is my only concern.  I want to make sure they sign their end of the contract as well so they don't keep showing the house.

Our real estate agent is probably going to drop the contract off to the seller's attorney today.

We actually don't care if the closing runs into the 30 days beyond 2/20.  Our lease is not scheduled to expire where we live currently until 4/30/08 so we don't want to have to pay rent and a mortgage for one month. If we close at the end of March, our first mortgage payment wouldn't be due until May 1st which would work out fabulously.

I am still hoping we may be able to get out of our lease one month early since they need to do a ton of work on the apartment before they start showing it.

Since we live on the top floor, we've had a ton of leaks from the rain.  The season starts here around May anyways so it would probably be in the landlord's best interest to let us out of the lease in April so she can fix up the apartment and then show it.
