I wanted to share an idea to inspire anyone feeling sad or defeated lately - a few months ago, I was having treacherous "ups and downs" with my emotional wellness. On top of the world one day, in tears the next.

A friend suggested I try yoga, so I took a few classes - and found a new balance I had never experienced. Since then, I've been practicing a few times a week, and doing research into the ideas behind it as well.

I recently stumbled on this site: http://www.heractivelife.com, which has a "Yoga Life" series that is pretty informative - thought I'd suggest it as a starting point for women who might want to get into it.

I tried yoga a few times; some good experiences, but some weird.  I guess it's just not my cup o' tea, but I know lots of people who love it!

Hi

I'm an indian, and Yoga was discovered in India. Yoga is very effective and helps balance mind and body, it is a way of life.

I first do Pranayamas and then the Yoga poses... it is just great, you lose weight easily and more than gymming... onething that is important for doing Yoga is Patience... it should only be done when you have time and neve to be done in haste.

I love yoga!  I just discovered it this year.  I think it's horrible that Western culture doesn't integrate bodywork or preventive bodycare and I would recommend that everyone try yoga at some point.  Speaking of yoga, does anyone have any good ideas for holiday gifts for yoga teachers?  I mean, something more complex than a yoga mat which obviously they already have?

Maybe one of those small battery operated, relaxing water & rock fountains?
I received one as a gift a few years ago and I love it!

A  nice pair of yoga pants, or comfy a t-shirt, made from something eco-friendly?  Patagonia.com and Gaiam.com would have good choices.

That rock fountain sounds like a good idea, I might look into that.  I certainly wouldn't turn down chocolate, so maybe that's another idea.  I haven't gotten as much of a chance to talk to two of them as I'd like, but the third has mentioned she would like to start getting her food from a farm so I thought a trial membership to a CSA might be nice.  I also thought I might get them a film about India since my new favorite movie is Outousrced (http://outsourcedthemovie.com) - it might be good for them because it's wholesome yet examines the differences between India and US culture with humor and love.  I also thought perhaps incense?  But I don't know what kind to get, I think there's a range of incense because I've bought incense before and after a month in the drawer all the different kinds that I purchased smelled the same.

For a while I had a yoga class I really liked.  Hatha yoga, the instructor was really good.

If the person you're buying a gift for does not have one of those neat breathable mesh yoga mat totes, that's a nice gift.
