We've been evacuated from our home due to the fires in San Diego.  We're at my parents' house now; watching the t.v. to see if our place is still standing.

Hope everybody is okay!!  Pray for Southern Calif.  It's very scary.

we got evacuated at 8:30 this morning... DD and I are safe & just watching the news.
It's like a complete deja vu from a few years ago.  DD knew the drill well and we got out in record time.

hope everyone here is safe!  Heather - how are you guys doing?

Lara, I am glad you and DD are safe.   heart  I wasn't sure if you were still in this neck of the woods.  I think we're almost neighbors.   smile
We are doing fine; glued to the T.V. news for updates.  My stepson is with his mom, and they are all fine too.

Just saw my neighborhood in flames on TV Sad
We are still safe and have evacuated south-east, which is all that matters but it's really heart-wrenching to watch the news and see it sweep through your town.
This is much, much worse than it was for us years ago.
All of our evac centers are full and the winds are just carrying it into more towns.  They have my neighborhood only 5% contained, yikes.

That's awful.  Sad  I will be crossing my fingers for you.

Heather?  Any news?  What about your sister?  Is she in one of these areas too?

I have been watching the news as well, even the satellite images of all the smoke.  I pray that the firefighters are able to safety do their job to help tame the fires.  Best wishes divas, hang in there!

I'm a little frustrated b/c of conflicting reports.  Most of my area has been lifted from evacuation but I'm still unable to get in because fires are still too close north of me.
BUT DD and I are still safe - we have been playing rounds and rounds of indoor games because the air quality outside is horrible.
We've had to invent some interesting activities to keep us occupied.. lol but I'm glad now that she is more relaxed.  Yesterday she didn't even want to not be in the same room - she was afraid the fires would come and we would be separated.  I think now we're getting used to the situation and it made me think of war zones where I'm sure kids just go about their normal business after they get used to the sounds and situations.  Scary... but at the same time it's interesting human behavior how easily we adapt.

We are fine and have confirmed our house did not burn.  The evacuation order hasn't been lifted yet; they are checking the hazards of gas and power lines, and also watching the shifting winds to make sure the fires that are still burning don't blow back our way.  We are safe at DH's mom's house right by Qualcomm stadium.  My parents and sister (aka SoapStar) are fine and their homes are not in burn areas.  We're keeing a close eye on the fires and my family has their stuff by the door in case the shifting winds cause a problem, but all is okay.

Lara, any news on your house?  Jen, how about the fires by you?  Are you guys in an okay area?

I'm glad you guys are ok!  We had the evac notice lifted and moved back in about an hour ago.  Our house is fine and it is really nice to be home!
I'm tired though... I think the last few days have caught up with me.

Good news Lara!!  clap

Heather - I hope you are able to go back home soon, too, if you're not already there. heart

Thankfully, we've been well out of danger - no problems at all here or in the area around school.
