DH & I are breaking ground in late March for an energy efficient, maintenance free (as possible) home.

Sounds neat - are you using solar or other technologies?  How's it going?

Our goal is to sell our house in the next few months once we get finished remodeling and either buy a house in the country or build one. We'd rather build because then we can get everything exactly how we like but buying might be more in our budget.  smile

My major concern is to just stop spending my money so frivolously. The other major concern is to get my debt in order. I have some things that are in deliquency  eek and I'm kicking myself because I was a stupid 18 year old and I'm now paying for those decisions.

...I wanted to check up on this and, I cannot believe I never posted mine!...
Oh, well, better late than never!

1. find a new jobe - done!
2. track expenses to see where my $$$ is going! -- uh,  hammer I haven't been really consistent!
3. reduce debt by $5K (not including interest!) -- I'm a bit behind, but, think I can make it by the end of the year!...

so, how about you??

We did pay off the car, and DH has been saving like crazy for a vacation to come later this summer, so on those counts we've done really well.  diva

Grocery spending still challenges me, as does the restaurant total each month...  hammer

For me, if DH gets a raise I'd like to see us increase our 401K contribution and pay extra on our car payments.  If I end up working more hours next fall and get any sort of tuition reduction for DD in the process, I'm going to take the difference and split it between paying off the car and saving for a vacation.

We did great on the wedding expenses, so that's a major sucess.  The personal debt issue is still a cloud over my head.  I'm on a plan now to have all debt cleared in 3 years.  Sticking to the plan will be the hard part!

We're doing great on our wedding budget.  I got my dress on eBay for about $400; half the cost I thought I'd incur.   yippee  Our grocery bills are on track, too.  I think we've had people over (like groups of people) every month since we've lived together - until now.  I have to think that has something to do with it.  We'll see how we end the month and how we do in Feb. with a Mardi Gras party.  It'll be good to break out those costs and look at them seperately.

...December is almost here...should we do a check up?

1. find a new jobe - done!
2. track expenses to see where my $$$ is going! --  have not been doing this for the past 4 months!  hammer
3. reduce debt by $5K (not including interest!) --  I think I'll definetily achieve this one! (provided the translations get paid before Jan08!)...if not, still a pretty good job!

Status quo for me.  My car will be paid off in May and I'll use that $330/month toward the other bills.  That should make a huge diffference!!
