NY Times article 16 January 2007 headline "51% of Women Are Now Living Without Spouse".

The article is based on an analysis of census data from 2005, and states "married couples became a minority of American households for the first time".

It was sort of reassuring for me to read that, since most of the women I know (near my age) are single for whatever reason (never married, divorced, etc.) and I think there's a lot of pressure on singles to pair up and get married.

Yes, that 51% does include unmarried women who live with a partner but are not married.
