Well, I\'ve been sending out resumes whenever I find a job posting that doesn\'t mention age requirements (and that seem like a good option given my skills/experience)
We\'ll see what happens...
The most recent one I sent was for a bilingual schools...the other day I overheard a conversation at the school where they said that this school (the one I sent the application to) is paying new teachers $800/month (less than what I\'m currently making, but, I figure, if I can get them to give me Ale\'s tuition for free, it\'s a great deal! - 50% wouldn\'t really help, as this is an EXPENSIVE school! ~$400/month!)....I am also inquiring (sp?) about teaching positions at other bilingual schools...figured it could be a solution to both the $$ and the education/school fee problem!!...I\'ll keep you posted!

We\'re thinking the same things about teaching and tuition, aren\'t we? Wink  Good luck!

woo-hoo! the school answered!!! -of course, all they did was send me a job application, but, still....

Now, for the confusing part: they ask me this:

civil marriage: YES / NO
religious marriage: YES /NO

...they don\'t ask me about my marrige status, which would be \"divorced\" (or single, depending on how they view it!)....

to be truthful, I have to answer NO on the first one and YES on the second one (as my religious marriage was never annulled, although, I certainly think we could have done that, given the circumstances!)...oh, well, again, what\'s the worse that can happen?? that they don\'t want a divorcee?? if they are THAT kind of school....good riddance...if they are only asking \"for general knowledge\" as we say, then everything is OK...

I\'ll keep you posted!!  dry

Ok, I sent in my application...I know if they are truly as deeply Catholic as they are said to be, a couple of things there will stand out...still, the worse that can happen is that they won\'t hire me...

Now, I was thinking (because another friend now has been asking around and told me that the friend of a friend - small city!- works there, and that she gets 50% off the tuition for her second kid, but that has to pay full for the eldest...)...what would I do if they did offer me the same salary as here, but NOT offered Ale\'s tuition??...or offered only half, which is still astronomical -imo- as the FULL tuition is ~$4K/year, plus the admittance bonus which is almost $2K!!....
You know what? I\'d probably take it anyway! (I just wouldn\'t send my daughter there!)...I mean, the working hours would be infinitely better (say 7:30- 3 - let\'s say to 4) as opposed to 8-6...I\'d still be able to find a second job, say from 5-7 and would be able to spend more time with Ale...

Dreams are free, aren\'t they??

ok. since I wanted (needed Wink ) the interview at 4 rather than 4:30, they moved it from Monday to Tuesday...no problem. We\'ll see how it goes!

I also sent out 2 more resumes today! - 1 for Berlitz and another one for another call center...still on the search for hourly jobs that pay more than $5.75/hour!

Oh, and I told my boss (director) about the job interview at the school and, he looked a bit scared and, when I mentioned the hours, he said: Ooooh, you could come and work with us part time after school, from 4 to 6 or 7...  eek  ...If I\'m so indispensable (sp?), why aren\'t they paying me more?? hammer

I went to the interview yesterday...I feel it went ok...as stated before, maybe the things I had against me were: my divorce, the fact that DD\'s father is not involved in her life (it came up), the fact that I\'m not actively involved in the Catholic church (it came up, too, although, at least I mentioned Ale is going to weekly meetings!)...we\'ll see. I think the interviewer liked me (she kept looking at me while asking me the church things as if pleading: PLEASE say you\'re active!)...
The things that might weigh in my favor are: I have this wonderful (true!) teaching story about helping a child realize he wasn\'t \"stupid\" as everyone said he was, and about being able to stand for himself against a group of teasers after that! (it IS my proudest moment as a teacher!), also the fact that I\'m concerned about DD\'s education and want to spend more time with her...and the fact that, at least we are TRYING to be closer to the church...she said they\'d let me know in a couple of days whether I need to come in for tests and more interviews...it\'s really in God\'s hands now!
