Once upon a time...

WWW
« on: January 01, 2006, 04:13:17 PM »

I\'m still having parental issues - seems like they\'re always worse when I\'m dating someone.

For years I have carried a cell phone in my parents\' family plan.  It is basically so my mom can get hold of me, and until recently I\'ve never really gone over the minutes.

Now that I have a boyfriend I\'ve actually been using the phone my parents are freaking out.  I said to give me the phone bills from Oct/Nov for my line and I\'ll pay them as soon as I can.

Over the holiday I got a pair of phones for me & my boyfriend where we can talk to each other for free.  These new phones do not belong to my parents, and I\'ve got control of the account.

I went over to give back the old phone and let them know that I\'ve got my own now.  The first thing they said was that it\'s going to cost them money.

Sheesh - I can\'t win.  They were peeved when I actually USED the phone (because it cost them money) and now they\'re peeved because I WON\'T use the phone (because it may cost them money).

Apparently, Dad renewed the contract on my # for 2 years at $35 per month, with some stupid penalty for cancellation of that contract.

 hammer

But once I\'ve paid up for Oct/Nov/Dec then it\'s not my problem any more.

Edited to add - As if all that isn\'t bad enough, I called my sister to give her my new # and learned that my mom has been complaining to my siblings about how much $ my phone bill was.  Grrrrrr.  It\'s bad enough that they\'re freaky with me about money, it\'s worse that she is messing up my relationship with my siblings too by making it sound like I\'m a total freeloader.   blah blah blah
