Welcome to DivaTribe

A diva accepts herself as she is right now and strives to be even better.
She doesn't change who she is to fit someone else's idea of what she ought to be.
She reaches for her own ideal sense of whom she wants to be.
She's strong; she's courageous; she's creative.

Once upon a time...

My boyfriend is Jewish, and I\'m Christian.  Neither one of us is strict with our religious observances, but we pray each night together and do observe some of the major holidays.

25 Dec. this year is both Christmas and the first day of Hanukkah.  I\'ve had my tree up, but he can\'t find his menorah.

I started looking for one, but I have yet to find a simple, inexpensive (because I\'m fairly broke right now), traditional menorah.  The only ones I saw were for little children or whimsical (ponies, shoes, etc.).

I feel guilty that we didn\'t have a menorah last night.  He has been so good about joining my family for our holiday, and I want to share his traditions too.

Then I started to worry a bit.  Is it weird to purchase a menorah for someone else if you\'re not Jewish?  Not that I\'ve found any to purchase locally.  Sigh.

I don\'t think it\'s weird to buy a menorah for him, if you want to do it as a gift and not out of a sense of responsibility.  Just because he can\'t find his and you have a tree doesn\'t mean you need to buy him one, kwim?

Thanks!

Did finally locate one (we were out shopping together) and have been lighting the candles and saying the blessings.  Didn\'t feel weird because we were there together.
