DH\'s back doctor just told him for the 4\'th consequtive time that his blood pressure is really high...

Each time DH assumed it was a coincidence - he was having a stressful day, it was his medication, etc. BUT, I am getting worried. He is the worst salt addict I have ever seen!

Does anyone here have any experience with high blood pressure? Or have any advice on how to break DH\'s salt addiction?

TIA!

sis is a salt addict...from my experience, they will add salt to anything even before tasting it, so if you reduce the amount of salt when you cook, they will add their normal share and use a bit less...(not much help, I know!)

When I was six my dad chewed tobacco and my mother was a salt addict, so one day they made a pact to get healthy.  She threw out his tobacco and he threw out her salt, and it worked!  Both quit cold turkey and never started again.
I don\'t know how you feel about giving up something, but maybe you could make a pact like my parents did.  You could give up something too.  I\'m sure you don\'t really have any unhealthy habits, but we all have something that we could compromise.
Just an idea, it worked well for my parents.
I hope DH can cut salt out of his diet, it\'s really bad for your body.  Good luck Jen.  heart

Dh always does that! I am always telling him - I used salt when I cooked that! How do you even know it needs more if you haven\'t even tasted it yet!!!  pulling hair

We went out for Chicken wings the other night - he even put salt on his already very spicy buffalo wings!  hammer

do you do most of the cooking?  If you do, maybe you should try some low sodium meals or sodium replacements... (is there such a thing?)
good luck... I know how hard it is to give up habits Wink

I think your doctor needs to speak to him.  It sounds like you\'re worried, but that DH is shrugging it off.

Oh yeah, pretty much ALL the cooking! dry LOL!
I really dont use alot of salt, or cook many pre-packaged things, so most of our home cooked meals are probably pretty low sodium... At least until DH gets ahold of the salt shaker! :x

I think I am just going to hide the salt, and fill the salt shaker with some kind of salt replacement!
