Well, the kittens are now about 7 weeks old, litter trained, eating solid foods, and ready for new homes! So far 3 of the 9 have gone to people we know...

I put an ad in the paper which started running today. I have never done this before, and am a little weary of having complete strangers come to my home to see the kittens, and then just handing the kitties over! the first call was a man, so I am going to have him come after DH gets home this evening. But, I was wondering what I should ask people, to try and make sure they are in fact \"good homes\" and not scary people?

I had a friend give away free kittens... she would not only take down the name and address of the new family, but she would ask to verify it with a driver\'s license.  Someone who has nothing to hide should have no problem with this, and should, infact, thank YOU for being so careful.

Just a thought.  cat

We have Caller ID, so I have been \"reverse checking\" the phone #\'s of people who have called... DH thinks I am being \"over-protective\"!

A cute young couple with a baby just left with one, so now there are 5! Another family with a 2 year old is coming tonight...

The boys want to hide the one they like! The runt has a lazy eye, and I am afraid nobody will take her, so we may *have* to keep her!

***EDIT***

And then ther were 4! The last couple that came were very sweet &  have had cats before.... They took my favorite one...

DH and I both felt that they were a \"legitimate Good Family\" so, we let them take her! They even thought to buy KMR (Kitten Replacement Milk) before they came to pick one!!!

I am a little bit sad, the boys are very sad, but I said: \"we already have enough cats that we love, and we are out of room for anymore! This family will love her &  give her the family that she deserves.\"

Besides, nobody so far has showed any interest in the poor runt with the lazy-eye! I seriously cannot afford to take care of anymore cats - especially one with special needs!

Jenn, I\'m so excited that you\'ve found good homes for so many of them.  Poor little runt kitty!!!  I\'ll keep him/her in my thoughts and hope that a person with a big heart comes along and can take care of a special little one.   heart

Well, we are down to 1 - the last tiger striped baby is getting picked up on Thursday, and that just leaves the little runt with the lazy eye!

She is so sweet! She is sleeping on my lap right now.  cat What if no one takes her?! DH loves her too, but seriously, 5 cats!!! That is crazy!!!

We know some people with a farm... We have been considering keeping the baby runt and \"relocating\" the 2 adult strays that adopted us... Is that really awful???

I feel for you - it\'s so hard not to get attached, and yet five kitties is a lot of kitties.  I have to stay away from cat adoptions - it\'s too hard to walk away empty-handed!!

It\'s a tough decision, but nobody (!!) can, should, or would slight you for making whatever decision you end up with.  5 is a LOT!   cat   cat   cat   cat   cat

Well, we lucked out! Tonight I was at my M/C class, and when I got home, DH had given the baby to a nice family who drove over an hour to pick her up!!!

So, thats it, all 9 kittens have new homes! What a relief!!!
