I am just spending too much lately - on all sorts of stuff.  I had determined a weekly budget for myself but find myself unwilling to stick to the plan.  I am so frustrated with myself - I think I must be feeling anxious.  I tend to overspend when anxious which makes no sense.

I think a lot of people spend when they\'re feeling anxious or out of sorts somehow.  Retail therapy.

Not wanting to stick to a budget reminds me of not wanting to stick to a diet.  Perhaps a hint of deprivation in both?

I thought of something else just now - maybe it will help?

What if you were to go back over your spending for a given amount of time (3 months?  I don\'t know how you track your finances), figure out what you spend on average on food or clothing or whatever, and then set a goal for yourself to spend x% less than that for the next month.

For example, let\'s say on average you spend $150 a month on new clothes.  Maybe your goal could be to spend 10% less than that, giving yourself a goal of $135.  If you find you can do that for three months straight or whatever, consider lowering it again by 5% or something.

Just throwing the idea out there.
