I have decided (due to the stupid state suspending my plate) to trade my car in on a new(er) one.

I will only buy an American car, so that pretty much leaves me with 2 cars that I like: Pontiac Grand Prix, and Ford Mustang GT.

I test drove a 2004 Ford Mustang GT convertable and fell in love! They are offering me a great deal with trading in my 2000 Pontiac Grand Am, but, it still costs more than a brand new Pontiac.

The Mustang will hold it\'s value better than the Pontiac, so it might be a better plan even though my monthly payment will be $40 per month higher... Opinions?

What are your favorite cars?

My boyfriend is going to buy one of the new mustangs in the next 6 months.  It\'s a beautiful car!  For me, with gas prices as they are, I think my next car (which, hopefully, is YEARS down the road) will be a hybrid.

I drive a Mercury (Mercury is owned by Ford) and it\'s the best car I\'ve ever had.

DH wants to get an \'05, he loves the new body style, but, I am still stuck on the old style! (besides, brand new is out of my price range anyway!  Wink )

I have been debating getting a regular Mustang with a V6 engine versus the GT with the V8 with these skyrocketing gas prices. The V6\'s are cheaper too...

A Hybrid is a great idea - I just wish there were more options, and more power under the hood. I need serious power to navigate these mountains - especially in the winter!

Out here, the low grade gas is around $2.55 a gallon, I know it\'s even more for you guys out on the west coast! DH was shocked yesterday when he witnessed someone \"Gas & Dash\" at a local station! I have even heard of entire tankers of gas being stolen in some places!  shocked

Personally, I\'m not really fond of American cars.  I understand that supporting America is important, but when it comes to car buying, I think it\'s equally important to look at all your options to truly find a car you love.  It\'s such a big decision.
Have you looked at the Pontiac Vibe?  My father-in-law\'s girlfriend has one and absolutely loves it.  I rode in it and it was a very smooth ride with plenty of room for groceries, kids and anything else.  I believe it\'s all wheel drive.  I like the Ford Escape out of all Fords.  It also has plenty of room and 4x4 for winter.
I have to say I\'m not crazy about Mustangs.  The new one is hot, but way too trendy for me!  If I had my choice, I would buy the Scion Tc, if I wanted something hot.  I love Toyota, our Toyota has been great.  I\'m with Heather on the Hybrids, the Rav 4 hybrid is great for gas mileage and climbing the mountains here, plus it\'s cute!  I also love Hyundai, their warranty alone makes them appeal to me.  The Sonata is a great car, my uncle loves his.
On the subject of gas and run, our gas meters stop at $50 here.  It\'s terrible, DH can\'t even get 3/4 of a tank these days with prices so high!
Good luck with your search!  Yellow flower
