I decided to see a dermatologist for a full body scan, as I've never been looked over for skin cancer, etc.  I went today - nothing scary, nothing that had to be biopsied or dealt with! big grin  A couple of spots to watch, but they're probably nothing either.  Turns out that I do have rosacea going on though, and am going to treat it.  I just thought I had bad skin as I was getting older, so it is sort of a relief to hear what exactly is "wrong" with it and that we can try to manage it. smile

Great news, Jen!  I remember the days of laying by the pool with oil on.  eek

Glad you got checked and all is well.  My mother was a true sun lover and was always out by the pool.  She tanned nicely.  Not me.  I took after my father - fair skin, blue eyes, blonde.  Generally burned and pealed was the typical summer deal for me as a child. I even sunburn riding in a car. Thank goodness for sun block.  It  lets me play outside with the kids and has saved my grandchildren from many sunburns.

I decided to make the appointment because I know so many people who are now having to have things removed, frozen off, biopsied, and so forth.  It just felt like the right thing to do, for my own peace of mind.  I did have a couple of spots I was concerned about, and now I know that they're nothing to be alarmed about.

I think this next generation is so much better informed about skin cancer and the importance of using sunscreen.  My daughter applies it as part of the routine for going outside for any length of time.  It's a very normal part of her routine.  (Hope it stays that way!)

By the way, I'm trying out CeraVe cleanser and PM lotion and so far really like both products.

It's been recommended to me twice now, so I figured I give it a shot.  I'm using them at night and using Aveeno products in the morning.  I'm hoping that a month or so from now I'll be able to see some improvement in the appearance of my skin, between the oral antibiotic, the topical gel and a new skin care regiment.
