Hello ladies,

I'm new here, just joined today, because I am looking for some support/someone to vent to, and this seemed like a good place to start. I haven't been feeling myself since about December now and it seems to be getting worse lately. I'm normally quite a happy, social outgoing person but lately this is not the case. i've been having intestinal problems for quite some time now and the dr's can't seem to figure it out, so that is making me really anxious and depressed, because it's hard to live with pain every day and I don't eat much anymore, because it bugs my stomach, which is odd for me, because I looooove eating and cooking so much!! I'm quite slim already and I don't want to lose any weight. I'm not sure if now, this onset of depression/lonliness is just making matters worse for my stomach, because i'm on edge most of the time.  It's scaring me, because it's not me. I'm 34 years old, married, no kids and my family and friends live on the other side of the country which really makes me sad, because i miss them so much.

I feel so alone and I hate it. I do have friends here, but only a few good ones and it's difficult to see one another due to our crazy shift work at the hospital, so most days I spend alone while my husband is at work, on my days off. So sorry to be a downer here, I just needed to vent and talking to people out there in cyber space seemed like a good option today. I need a good dose of HAPPY and hope to find it here amongst you guys!! Thanks so much for letting me vent, i hope you all have a fabulous day smile

Welcome NurseBetty,

Having dealt with G.I. health issues myself for over two years, I can totally relate to how you feel.  It was very frustrating for my husband and me for several months - going from doctor to doctor - in and out of the hospital.  Finally with one doctor things began to improve.  Pay attention to your body.  It's surprising what it may tell you.  Certain foods might bother you more than others.  For me, juicing was beneficial as I could not tolerate fats because they would really disrupt my G.I. tract and cause a great deal of pain.  Juicing fruits and vegies along with protien powder got nutrients in which I sorely needed then.

Hang in there!  You are in touch with a GREAT community of caring women.  We are here for you.

Welcome!!! You have found a nice community.

I can identify to where you are coming from.  I work all day a stressful job and don't have many friends in the area.

I am planning to join a yoga class starting this week with my sister-in-laws so I can force myself to get out of the house more and socialize and feel better about myself!

I can't relate to you personally but would like to answer your part of the question where you said you think the depression may be also causing you to lose weight. Yes, what you think and know has a major effect!

Take this scenario for example:

My grandmother went for a checkup in a small town, well known to not have such good doctors, but she grew up there and believed in them.

Listening to them, they told her she had cancer, put her on Kemo and this made her really upset. She got depressed and just knew she wouldn't make it. Well about 6 months go by and they still say she's not getting better.

My mother decided to step in b/c she sees my grandmother fading away! My mother took her to Jackson, MS, a lot larger town and with professional doctors. My grandmother just had scists, not cancer!!!

Where I'm going with this is that yes, just by knowing you have something will bring you down completely. I know you aren't in the same situation but if you could try to keep your head up a little and not think about it 24/7 your depression and some weight should start coming back.

I hope I was able to give you a little insight! smile I'm new to this site and loving it already!
