Once upon a time...

So I created an email account that I only use for the internet meeting people/dating thing.

Yesterday I get this annoying bounce back from messages I did not send, and one message from some address I didn\'t recognize saying I sent them a computer virus.

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!!!   eek

I deleted all but 2 of my contacts (who I\'m still in touch with) and sent them an email apology and told them I would never send an attachment that they were not expecting (I avoid sending attachments anyways).

Now I\'m trying to decide if I should just close down that email account all together?  It\'s a free account and I\'m not sure I would even know how to make it go away.

Should I notify the hosting service of what is happening?  Do I switch my friends over to my other email account?  Anyone else had this nightmare?

I don\'t know what you\'re using for your free email, but I really like gmail, and I haven\'t had any troubles with it to date.  I wonder if the site(s) you signed up with sell email addresses?  If so, then you may be out of luck no matter what email address you use.  You can\'t control the idiot spammers out there who get their kicks wasting everyone else\'s time.

It\'s a Yahoo! account.

My \'real\' account is with Hotmail - never had problems with them.

Since that one day I\'ve had no problems.  But it\'s still sort of freaky.
