Dh got hit on his bike today by someone in a parked car opening their door just as he rode by.  Thankfully there no other cars coming, but he ended up with a broken clavicle. Sad  Please, think about him before opening your door on the street and take a look for cyclists.

Dh is in a sling now and can't paddle or ride.  It's his right side, which messes up his writing and computer use as well - and he works with computers for a living.  It's a real bummer.  Sad

I am so sorry to hear that happened!  They actually warned us about people opening their car doors in to you when I took the Motorcycle Safety Course a few years ago - apparently that is the most common reason that Motorcyclists lose limbs! I can see how it would be even more common on a bicycle, as there is no forewarning roar of an engine, like on a Motorcycle.

I am glad he wasn't hurt worse. I hope he has a speedy recovery.

I was just talking to my neighbor who is a police officer. A motorcycle cop he knows just had to have his leg amputated because while he was patrolling, he went to pass a parked car, and someone opened their door in to him, he went down, and the motorcycle crushed his leg. That is awful!
