I hate the overfed Deer that live nearby! When I was watering the new trees last night I noticed that several branches have been eaten! Being about 5 feet off the ground the culprits have to be deer. I swear I want to hide in my attic with the shotgun and shoot them as soon as they come in our yard again!

Does anyone know of any Deer repellants that actually work? I read about a Deer Alarm that shoots water when the motion detector is activated. I just wonder how effective it really is, and if it is worth the $150 investment... But, I really do not want to have to put up tacky fencing around the new trees!

Now that they have discovered the trees, I'm sure they will move on to my Tomatoes, Lettuce, and Pepper plants next.  hammer This weekend I am going try staking up Fishing line around the vegetable garden to keep them out. I read that Deer can't see it, and walk in to it, and it supposedly scares them away. I guess it is worth a try!

I live in South-Western PA, deer are generally a nuisance here, but it is especially bad in my area now, due to new construction. I would say in the past 10 years about 500 acres of formerly untouched forest have been cleared  for new housing and shopping developments within a few miles of my house.  eek

I'm not sure which bothers me more - all of the new people - or all of the displaced Deer! LOL!

I rather see deer than skunks.  I drive through an area that has deer signs everywhere.  The deer will just jump in front of the car at any moment.  The thing is....I don't know where the deer come from.  There isn't any forest like areas in that neighborhood.  The same neighborhood also has a skunk problem.

After we successfully deterred the deer from eating everything in the back yard, they moved to the front!  hammer

I realized that they have been munching on my 5 year old Dogwood tree, and my prized Hydrangeas! Staking them off with fishing line, like we did in the back, just is not practical. My neighbor told me about this stuff called "Liquid Fence" that is basically Coyote Urine, and repels Deer.

So, I tried it. OMG! I have never smelled anything so nasty in my life! It seriously smelled so bad that I cannot even describe it! Fortunately, once it dries, only animals can smell it, and it seems to be working! However, it also seems to be scaring the crap out of my cats - literally.  blink Last night my cat kept triggering the motion light in the driveway, but would not come up to the front door... I had to go down and get her because she was afraid to pass the Hydrangeas, where I had sprayed the Liquid Fence!

These Hydrangeas bloom on the previous years growth. Last year I could have killed DH for pruning them in the Spring - therefore killing last years blooms. Now, I am afraid they wont bloom again this year because of the stupid Deer! hammer
