DD and I almost never go to the beach here.  I don't really like the beaches near us, but sometimes it's fun.  There's a nice one about 15 miles north of us, so we'll head up there some this summer.  Anyway, we went to a local one today and found a good spot for finding beach glass.  I came home with a nice little stash of it!  DD took her metal detector but didn't find anything interesting.  It was windy and chilly but a nice way to spend the morning. smile

Sounds like fun. I'd love to find a beach like that!  I don't think there are any by me that have beach glass. Garbage maybe, but not beach glass.

I have a small box full of beach glass in my craft room still waiting for me to do something with it. It's aging until inspiration strikes smile

I think Beach Glass is more of a rarity on the Atlantic Coast. All of my years vacationing up and down the Eastern coast-line, I have only collected a few handfuls! The most I ever found was in Florida.

Supposedly you can find it further out East on Long Island where the shore is rockier and rougher.  We never go out there though really.  And we NEVER go to the North Shore of Long Island.   Maybe it's time to plan a much needed weekend getaway?

I think it tends to turn up on rocky shores where there are lots of pebbles and such washing up as well.  I don't think you'll find it on a smooth, sandy beach.  DD and I found a rocky patch yesterday and that's where I found the glass. Found similar spots in Monterey and north of Santa Cruz as well.
