Our 10 year wedding anniversary is on the 25'th of this month! It is hard to believe 10 years has gone by so fast!
Right now, my parents are putting a huge addition on their house, & have no kitchen until September. So, they offered to stay at our house, with the boys, so that we can get away alone!
We had planned to drive to Sturgis, South Dakota for the annual Motorcycle Rally, and to see Mt. Rushmore & the Black Hills. But with Gas prices what they are, it would be crazy to make the 2,800 round trip, pulling a trailer with 2 MC's. Plus, the shop is way too busy for us to be away that long...
We were desperately searching for some kind anniversary getaway, on a VERY tight budget. Easier said than done! I wanted to drive to Rhode Island, & take the ferry to Block island for a few days, but with such short notice at the height of tourist season, we would have to stay in an overpriced Bed & Breakfast & share a bathroom with people in another room.
I was searching the Internet for timeshare rentals, and found these beautiful, luxurious, cabin's in Gatlinburg Tennessee, right on the edge of the Great Smoky Mountains - and the prices are unbelievable! $400 (taxes & cleaning fees included) gets us a totally private, newly built Log cabin, fully decked out with modern amenities & a beautiful view of the mountains - for 5 nights!
So, the second week in August, we are going to trailer our motorcycles down to Tennessee, spend the days riding through the scenic Great Smokies, and the evenings in the Jacuzzi on the deck, overlooking over the Mountains. All alone! No customers! No kids fighting! I can barely contain myself at the thought!
