Do any of you other girls suffer from Spring-time allergies?

I just realized that every year between March & May, I have serious problems wearing my contact lenses, and seeing properly. My eyes burn, and it seems lie the blood vessels in my eyes swell up, and my contact lenses don't fit right anymore. Meanwhile, my eye-glasses are about 10 years old, and about 5 prescriptions off - obviously not safe to drive with!

Both of my sisters have had Lasik surgery on their eyes. I think I say this every Spring, but as soon as I can save up the $ to do it, and find a way to take enough time off of work for it, I am getting it too. I am so sick of these itchy, red, blind eyes every Spring!

I'm in allergy hell right now with the 2 cats Wink  but I went to see my doctor yesterday and got some good suggestions to eliminate it.

We'll see how it goes b/c getting rid of the babies is not an option Wink big grin

My seasonal allergies are ridiculously bad. I've lived all over, and this (Texas) might be the worst they've been for me. Itchy/runny eyes, bad sinus congestion, even itchy skin and throat! I take OTC Claritin-D for it, even though I have to ask for it at the pharmacy and sign something that says I won't make meth out of it when I take it home. Sigh.

The Claritin helps with the eyes, though. So does the Visine-A, which is formulated for allergies. I used to use a great eyedrop when I was a kid, but it was pulled from the market. Hope that doesn't mean something really bad for my eyes...!

If your eye issues are allergies, then Lasik will help you avoid using the contacts, but you still might have problems with itchy and watery-ness because of the nature of the allergy. Consider taking something to help with the allergy symptoms. Good luck!

That is so annoying!!! Here in PA, they actually scan your drivers license now, and you get red flagged if you try and purchase more than 3 boxes (45 pills) within a 30 day period. Me and my 14 year old DS both have horrible spring allergies, so I need to purchase 60 pills for a 30 day period. It is ridiculous! I have actually had to resort to having my sister to buy one box a month for us, so were are not in total allergy hell!  hammer

Anyway, we used to take Claritin-D but just switched to Zyrtec-D, which seems to be helping both of us more with the itchy, runny eye symptoms. I dream of getting Lasik, and never having to deal with contact lenses again! Someday!

BTW - Welcome to the tribe!  smile flower
