Ugh! So far DS's LAX team is having a horrible season, they are 0-2-1. That is really hard to swallow after last years season ended 13-2. The varsity team is doing even worse - they are 0-4.

DS is 1 of only 5 second year players on his team, the rest of the team are 1'st year rookies, the team just is not "meshing" like it should, and half the kids can't pass the ball to save their life! It is so frustrating! Yesterday, DS was in position to score, a kid tried to pass him the ball, but was so off target he whipped the ball right in to DS's face shield! DS was dazed, lost possession, then took a bad slash to the leg and sat out the rest of the game.   hammer

I am just all around frustrated with the organization this year. Our team managers son was one of the kids the private school poached, so we lost both an excellent player, and a very well organized manager. I am now regretting my decision to decline the offer to manage the team, because I feel the new manager is running things way too loosely. There is a lot of mis-communication going on, constant schedule & field changes, and not a lot of support for the new team. I hate to say anything bad about the coach, but it seems like he spends all of his time screaming & swearing on the sidelines instead of forming effective lines, and using the practice time to get the boys conditioned. He doesn't even have them stretch, run, or do any cardio at practice!

I just hate to see the boys getting so discouraged! Plus, I feel that a disorganized team is a dangerous one. We have had at least one minor injury in every game so far. Our players are not working together, and are tripping over each-other, our own goalie has scored twice now - on us!

Yesterday's game was like watching the bad new bears. DH had planted our chairs around the 50 yard line, so we were right next to the opposing team's parents. They were so rude and unsportsmanlike, I had to get up and walk away because my blood was boiling.

I really hope things improve, and we can get through this season without any serious injuries!

Sad  I can really relate - we're having problems with the way DD's coach is so lacksidasical in her league and the girls have yet to win a game this season and DD gets soooooo frustrated.

is there anyway to get the parents together to talk to the coach or something?

Can a group of parents share the coaching duties?

Well... I know a couple of the Dads who used to play LAX in college have offered to help, however, the coach is very difficult to deal with. He has zero communication skills and he seems to take any offer to help as a personal insult. It is a tough situation. He is a good coach, but this is a hard year with a lot of new players, the loss of several key players he had coached from the baby league (long story - but last year the local private school poached our 5 most experienced players after we beat them all season.)

I also think a lot of the problems with the league are political, because Boys LAX is a "club sport" at our school (even though girls LAX is a "school sport") meaning we get no school support and basically get last dibs on any field, and everything has to be done on a volunteer basis - and the parents have to pay a lot more than any other sport parents.

I finally got so fed up with the constant schedule changes (we had gone to the wrong field at least 3 times!) and not knowing who was who - because we had no official roster -  that I volunteered taking over the website, and creating a team roster.

I was given a handwritten page with Jersey #'s and first names only to work with! Meanwhile, half the players are 7'th graders & new players! Fortunately, the son of the head of the organization rode to the away game with us last week, and I was able to have him fill in the last names for me, and we now have a real roster, and the parents and spectators can now really cheer EVERY kid on! I had about 10 parents come up to me today and thank me for putting it together, meanwhile, it only took me about 20 minutes..

Now, I am updating the website daily to try and keep everyone on the same page. And we are all praying that things improve and nobody gets injured!
