The big "Formal" 8'th Grade Dance - is coming up, it is like a "mini prom" for the kids who are graduating  to the High School next year.

Last month, DS was caught between seeing the "bad girl" who acted out, and incited chaos in everyones lives she touched; and the "good girl" who is a real sweetheart, follows the rules, and respects her responsibilities.

DS was not making the right choices, and was grounded from all forms of communication, and then he got the Flu which laid him up for his entire Spring Break. During that time DS decided to ask "the good girl" to the dance.

However, while DS was sick, one of his "best" friends went and asked "the good girl" to the dance. She didn't know DS was sick, and she didn't know that he had picked her over the "bad girl. So, she said yes to the friend, who she doesn't even really like anyway, because she wanted to ensure a date for the big event.

After DS went back to school, and finally talked to her, she said that she really wants to go to the dance with him, and not the friend. She only said yes to "the friend" because he kept harassing her and telling her DS was going with someone else.

If I was DS, I would be really mad at my "friend" who went behind my back and stole my date.
The "friend" is seriously, a total punk. Ironically, "the friends"  parents are actually good friends of my parents. If they heard, in a round about way, what their son does when their backs are turned, he may end up grounded for the big dance.... So tempting!

Oh well, poor DS is going to have to find another date for the big event now.

I'm sorry for your DS.  It's hard, navigating the world of romance at this age. hug

Ahhhh, teenage angst.  I don't miss it!!!!  Sorry DS's "friend" stole the girl for the dance.  Hopefully he can still go and have fun.

Sad  I know how hard that can be at that age!  How is he dealing with it?

Honestly, much better than I would have at his age!  smile  I guess this just shows one of the major differences between boys & girls. When I was 14, this would have been one of those "end of the world drama's" where I swore I "hated" that girl forever, blah, blah blah.

DS is just worried he won't find a date that he will actually have fun with now. But, as far as the other boy is concerned, everything is just fine.
