So many tv shows and books have made the transformation onto the silver screen. Do you guys like the idea? Which ones worked? Which ones didn't?

By and large I prefer books over movies made after books, though I have seen all of the Harry Potter movies and liked them.  I also watched the Lord of the Rings movies with DH and enjoyed them too.  TV shows into movies?  I'm pretty lukewarm on that idea, although I did like the Simpsons movie. I think the books are usually better, it seems like they can never squeeze all of the details from the book on to the silver screen.

I usually do enjoy watching the movie after I have read the book. Although sometimes it is weird, because I picture the characters in my head while reading - and then of course they are very different in the movie! The only one I can think of where the movie was really bad compared to the book was The Davinci Code. I thought movie versions of The Notebook, and The Horse Whisperer were both very well done. It as funny, when I read the Horse Whisperer, I totally pictured Robert Redford, then they made him the star of the movie!

I read the Memory Keepers Daughter recently, and absolutely loved it. Lifetime TV has turned it in to a movie - I am really looking forward to watching it!

I'm a complete sucker for those murder mystery/crime investigation movies and books. I read a book a few years ago that was incredible. It was about how this one cop that spent twenty years tracking down The Green River Killer, and finally helped catch him with the help of Ted Bundy.

So I was so excited to hear that a movie based on the book is coming out on LMN. Can- Not- Wait!

I read and LOVED The Horse Whisperer.  When it was made into a film there was a lot of talk about it not being true to the book.  I loved the book so much I've never watched the film!

I've never read the book, and I usually like to do that before I see a movie, but I think this is a different instance because its something that happened in real life. I think i'll check it out. I mean what else really am I doing at 8pm on a Sunday night beside dreading going back to work?

That's really strange. I'm not message board savvy so i dont know how that really works.

I really liked that movie too though. Did anyone else see it because I want to discuss.

No, I did not see it.

In fact, I was really annoyed that after watching 7,000 ads for it on Lifetime TV's regular channel, it was actually only shown on the "Lifetime Movie channel," which I do not get with my basic cable plan. I assume it will be the same BS with "The Memory Keepers Daughter"?
