Am I the only one who does not get the whole Amy Winehouse buzz?

She is famous for a song about someone telling her she has a drug problem and needs to go to rehab, but she says "no, no, no". Meanwhile, she won a ton of Grammies, (I the most one performer ever received at once), but she couldn't even be there because the US took away her Visa after she was caught on video smoking CRACK! Her husband is in jail for Drugs, she flaunts her Drug problems, writes songs about them, all the while refusing help, and she is a $$$ because of it? What is wrong with this picture?

Out of curiosity, I listened to some of her other songs on Youtube, but seriously, I thought they all stunk.

I could have cried seeing her yesterday...she so obviously needs help...I do think she has talent, but is just too wasted to actually use it...she's self-destroying!! It was painful to watch...

I like her voice, but I don't buy into the hype.  I think the Grammy's got a lot of mileage out of the controversy and gave them more publicity.  Sad.

I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt. But, I still think she sounds like a sloppy drunk, tone deaf, junkie, doing bad Karaoke in a dive bar.

This years Grammy's were a total sham. People who are so much more talented, committed, and SANE lost out to the crap hype.

I thought that award should have gone to anyone but her.  And there were so many other amazing performances that night, it just really emphasized how not-worthy that song/album was. sad

I think she has a pretty good voice but the whole secret to her success is the whole retro production. Mark Ronson, her producer, is the genius. She had a couple of albums before this one that were a totally different style and had moderate success in th UK.
He tweaked it to sound all retro doo-wop style and everyone bought into it.

One of my co-workers is a big music fan, and we had a discussion today about her.  He believes she has talent, which I found interesting.

Yeah, I think that she is sort of like the canvas that someone threw paint at and hung in the gallery as a joke, but people still stand around staring at it talking about the "Artistic quality"!

I liked her for a bit, but I'm past it now.

I'm listening to Rosey, who's got sultry, jazz vocals without the crack.
I saw her on the front page of itunes jazz, as her album comes out today.

Despite all the drama that goes on behind the scenes, I think she undeniably has talent and that's what she won those grammy's for. You shouldn't have a grammy denied to you b/c you weren't good the previous year. That's only for Santa clause. Ray Charles has done it and a lot of people has done it. If we knew he was on crack, we would've known why he looked and walked like he did.
