DS had his first Lacrosse game tonight. It was a 45 minute drive - and against  the oldest, wealthiest, private prep-school in our city - who have a long history of Lacrosse championships... (Compared to our public school team which has only existed for a few years, and cannot cough up any $$ for a bus or gear not bought personally by the parents!)

His team did really well considering - they lost 7 to 8. I think our teams biggest problem was that they were not playing well as a team (half of the team was on the school Ice Hockey team, and missed all of the practices until last week, due to playoffs.) So, hopefully now that Ice Hockey is over and the whole team is practicing together they can pull it together!

DS did well - he is so fast! He just needs to be more aggressive on the field!

yippee We are Rocking & Rolling now! I hope they have a great season! They have 2 games next week - I will let you know how they go!

They had their second game - first home game today.

The weather was horrible - 45 degrees and ice raining!  shocked

They played a big city "junior high school" team (7'th -9'th grade vs. our "middle school" team of 7'th & 8'th grade only) with twice as many players including some who were over 6 ft. tall and literally growled at our players on the field!  eek

But, our boys WON!!!  yippee Final score 7 - 4!!!!

Wish them luck! On Friday they play another really good team that they had trouble with during the indoor season.

Friday's game our team won - 13 - 2!!!  yippee

Some of our players are really good, and really experienced, and are being really great about giving DS playing time, and passing to him. This is his first Outdoor season which I'm sure is intimidating for him. Towards the end of the game DS & the team top scorer passed the ball back and forth all the way down the field and DS had a nice assist!

Next week they have 2 games. First game is against our local private school who is scary. They seriously have players who get a partial Lacrosse scholorship against the $20,000 per year tuition!  eek

Well, no big surprise, the Private school, born and bred Lacrosse team, beat us - but only by 1 point!

Our team held its own pretty well against such steep competition!

Tomorrow night we play a team over an hour away, on the other side of Pittsburgh! All I know is that it is a huge school district, and I have absolutley no idea what to expect. Hopefully we will do well despite the hour and a half drive!

Wish us luck!

Awesome!  yippee They won 8 - 2!!!

So, that puts us at 3/2 so far this season, with 10 more games to go.

And I must add - driving 1 hour and 25 minutes away for a game, and finally grabbing dinner at 9:00 pm - on my birthday - really was a PITA!!!!  tongue
