We are completely in the \"just thinking about it\" stage, but DH and I have started thinking about maybe getting a Prius.  We\'d trade in our everyday car and maybe our second car too, though not necessarily that one.  (I don\'t want to trade that one in, as it\'s my Miata that I bought myself over ten years ago.)  DH\'s company offers a bit of a rebate for employees that buy a hybrid, so there\'s that incentive, and the gas mileage would about cut our gas bills in half.

I don\'t know that we\'ll even do it any time soon, but it\'s worth thinking about and crunching some numbers.  money  pencil

There was a neat article in our local paper about a guy who, for $3,000 dollars, can install extra batteries in your Prius so it will get 250 miles per gallon.

Each time I look at the price of gas ($2.99 per gallon yesterday) I keep thinking about it.

My old \'94 gets 30 mpg on average, but that\'s still about $25 per week for gasoline. I miss the days of $10 per week!

Of course, living in So. Cal. my #1 choice would be 100% solar, but I have yet to find one.

250 mpg?  Can you even imagine?  That would be awesome.  Premium is over $3 a gallon everywhere I look now, and that\'s what our car takes.  I easliy drive 320 miles a month just going to and from school, and  I\'m lucky if I get 24 mpg right now making that drive.

We\'ve done a lot more thinking and number-crunching, and for now we\'re holding off.  It is really nice not having a car payment at all.  I think once I start getting a regular paycheck again, we can take another look at our finances and make some decisions.  It would be fun to do the impulsive thing and just buy one Wink but then again, there\'s a month or so wait on them anyway!  tongue

We also priced new solid surface kitchen countertops today.  Wow - not cheap.

We put down a deposit today.   I don't know how long it will be before we get one, so it really doesn't feel like we bought a new car today.  But I'm excited to get it.  yippee
