Title: Going to start running in July Post by: Jen on June 28, 2009, 09:28:05 AM My goal for July is to run a mile comfortably. I walk and take ballet, and I hiked fine on our vacation, but I think my heart and lungs could use more of a challenge so I'm going to see how it goes. Anyone want to join me?
Title: Re: Going to start running in July Post by: Jen on June 28, 2009, 01:27:20 PM I got out for a walk today and did five minutes of jogging to start working up to my goal. :dude:
Title: Re: Going to start running in July Post by: Jen on June 29, 2009, 05:32:47 PM No running today but DD and I walked over four miles. :diva:
Title: Re: Going to start running in July Post by: Lara on July 01, 2009, 12:05:32 PM I'll join you! I hate running but on the days Willow doesn't have soccer practice we have to run 3 miles with her. (I pray for rain, ha ha) It's great bonding time though so it's not too bad ;)
Title: Re: Going to start running in July Post by: Jen on July 01, 2009, 03:18:39 PM Awesome! I can't do three miles, but maybe I'll work up to it. :diva: I'm going out this afternoon after DD goes to ballet.
edited - went out and walked about 2/3 of a mile and then turned around and ran it home. :) Title: Re: Going to start running in July Post by: Jen on July 03, 2009, 10:12:45 AM I ran 1/2 a mile, walked a lap and then ran another 1/2 mile. :diva: Did two miles total jogging plus walking this morning.
Title: Re: Going to start running in July Post by: Jen on July 07, 2009, 09:52:15 PM Just checking in...I did so much heavy yard work yesterday and then still went to ballet last night that I was basically worthless today. My back and stomach muscles hurt - even the palms of my hands feel bruised. :O So I haven't run since my last report, but it's still on my mind before the month is out to run that mile! :diva:
Title: Re: Going to start running in July Post by: Jen on July 08, 2009, 09:41:12 AM hahaha...does a five-minute Wii Fit jog this morning count for anything?? :P
Title: Re: Going to start running in July Post by: Jen on July 16, 2009, 07:52:42 AM I've only done the five-minute Wii jog one other time sine my last post! :O All the heavy yard work I've been doing lately has had me feeling really tired. I need to look at my plan again and see if it's realistic!
Title: Re: Going to start running in July Post by: allinyc on July 17, 2009, 10:34:59 AM I'm not ambitious enough to run, so I will try to keep my goal simple and take my son for a 1/2 hour walk each night if it doesn't rain.
Title: Re: Going to start running in July Post by: nobody22 on July 20, 2009, 08:32:07 PM Running is definitely an empowering exercise.
Title: Re: Going to start running in July Post by: Lara on July 21, 2009, 09:44:12 AM I've been lazy since Willow has been on vacation - not having a running partner = no running ;)
I have hiked Torrey Pines every sunday though... Title: Re: Going to start running in July Post by: Jen on July 22, 2009, 03:10:12 PM I love to hike but rarely actually get out and do it around here. There are some nice hikes out near where I work.
I've done some Wii jogging and am willing myself to get back outside and running for real by the end of this weekend! Edited to add I looked up Torrey Pines' hiking trails - what a great place to hike! Title: Re: Going to start running in July Post by: Jen on July 22, 2009, 04:47:02 PM So I motivated myself to just get out there after dropping DD off at dance. I ran a little over twelve minutes straight with a 1-minute walking warm-up and another minute or so of cool down. Altogether I went about a mile and a quarter, so I think a mile is definitely doable for me! I need to go to the track so that I know when I've gone a mile.
Sad that it's only a mile, but hurray for being able to do it! :yipee: Title: Re: Going to start running in July Post by: HeatherH on July 24, 2009, 10:39:51 AM I have hiked Torrey Pines every sunday though... I love that place! :D Title: Re: Going to start running in July Post by: HeatherH on July 24, 2009, 10:40:39 AM Altogether I went about a mile and a quarter, so I think a mile is definitely doable for me! YEAH!!!!! :yipee: That's great! Title: Re: Going to start running in July Post by: Jen on July 28, 2009, 10:08:22 AM I did it today - jogged a mile and a half, actually! :D :diva:
Title: Re: Going to start running in July Post by: Jen on August 11, 2009, 07:47:34 AM While on my trip I went running one afternoon and managed to go for about 25 minutes, so I figure that was about two miles. :diva:
Title: Re: Going to start running in July Post by: Jen on August 13, 2009, 10:35:48 AM 2.25 miles today!! Jogging in place, so easier than running outside, but still.. :)
Title: Re: Going to start running in July Post by: HeatherH on August 13, 2009, 12:45:12 PM 2.25 miles today!! Jogging in place, so easier than running outside, but still.. :) That is AWESOME, Jen! :yipee: We need a running smilee. Title: Re: Going to start running in July Post by: Jen on August 20, 2009, 08:18:51 PM Tonight I started and just kept going and I ran 3.5 miles! :diva: I'm discovering that it's more mental than anything - I had to get through periods of being antsy and bored and then I felt like I could go and go and go.
Title: Re: Going to start running in July Post by: Jen on August 24, 2009, 06:56:39 AM 2 miles yesterday :)
