Title: Budget Month #3
Post by: HeatherH on March 31, 2009, 03:39:46 PM
I am afraid to do my budget analysis for March.     I had some unexpected expenses that I didn't budget for; and thus my other categories suffered.  (Thanks to my DH I can short him on my 1/2 of the mortgage, but I don't like doing that.  I love having a cushion, though.)  I did well in terms of not using my credit cards and reducing my overall debt; but as to how close I came to my overall monthly budget, that's what I'm afraid of.  How silly to be afraid of numbers!  Especially since they've already occured.  I am procrastinating, though, because I'm already sad that it won't be on target and I know it's my own fault.  Arrgh.   :P

This is progress though!
The unexpected stuff always happens, ironically; you'll get your budget adjusted accordingly. :)

I feel your pain with the unexpected expenses. Every month I cross my fingers and pray to the finance gods that my investment properties under lease will actually break even, and not cost me several grand that I don't have.
Good luck with April!

Update to say the budget is still going along well.  As of this month, I've paid off 10% of my debt!  :dude:  Budgeting, using coupons and planning our grocery trips around the sales, giving up the mani/pedi in favor of doing my own, and being aware of each dollar I spend have all helped.  Applying my tax refund helped, too!  In the past I would have purchased something with those funds vs. using them to pay debt.   :yipee:

That all sounds like hard work, but it's paying off - literally! :dude:  Good job. :queen:
