Title: Egg Donation Anyone? Post by: aimee36 on May 14, 2008, 09:08:54 AM I'm a single diva graduating from law school this year. :yipee: I am in a lot of debt to say the least. I have been thinking of egg donation as a way to help pay some of my loans off. :O I heard that egg donors can make anywhere from $8000-$10,000. I know in the Chicago area there is an egg donor agency called [location-specific link removed]. Are there any other good egg donor agencies in the Chicago area that someone can recommend?
Also, has anyone gone through an egg donor process? How is it like? I have read mixed reviews. Others say the egg donor process was one of the best things they have gone through in their life time, others not so. Title: Re: Egg Donation Anyone? Post by: JennR on May 14, 2008, 10:56:27 PM I considered Egg donation. However, I have always feared the repercussions, so I could never do it.
That is a big decision! Title: Re: Egg Donation Anyone? Post by: Herinspiration on May 29, 2008, 11:21:12 AM First...Congrats on graduation!! I don't know much about egg donation...but I would for sure do lots of research before making the decision!

My cousin is a lawyer and makes lots of $, so I think that paying off your loans may not be as difficult as it may seem right now. Best wishes. Title: Re: Egg Donation Anyone? Post by: alice23231 on August 20, 2008, 01:03:08 PM I did egg donation about two years ago with [location-specific link removed] I was in the same boat you were and wanted to reduce some of my school debt. I hate to say it, but money is definately a motivating factor. I mean seriously, all those shots and fertility treatment medications take a toll on you. You're not going to want to go through that for free. Anyway, I am Asian and Asian egg donors are in high demand so I got close to $10k. The intended parents were extremely happy. I was one of those rare cases that wanted to meet the intended parents. I know others prefer not to. Well, I wanted to know that I was donating eggs to a loving couple that could really take care of the baby. I hope to one day have children of my own. Not sure exactly if or when I would tell my future children about their half sibling. . . . .
Title: Re: Egg Donation Anyone? Post by: allinyc on August 20, 2008, 06:07:10 PM I don't know if I could ultimately go through with it, but the $$$$ does seem enticing. I am wondering how much of that is taxed though ;).
Title: Re: Egg Donation Anyone? Post by: NannyinMN on September 12, 2008, 10:58:28 PM What about being a surrogate mom instead? Most of the time you get paid pretty well for that also and you don't have to worry about when/if you have children some day telling them about a half sibling out there somewhere.
Title: Re: Egg Donation Anyone? Post by: Seahawkgirl0408 on September 17, 2008, 08:09:45 AM I've never really given egg donation much thought, although it has crossed my mind once or twice. I haven't done any research on the topic, but think that you should start there. I am sure that some of the agencies have women that would be willing to talk to you about their experiences with it. I would try to see if you could do that. Sometimes first hand experiences are more helpful than statistics on a page. Being in debt is something that is so stressful. It just might be worth it as long as the risks aren't too high. Good luck and congratulations!

They would have the best info----for us it's all just speculation LOL.
