Title: So sick of Drs! Post by: JennR on May 12, 2008, 02:05:35 PM Today I saw my PCP. He seemed oblivious to all of the testing and reports from my other Dr.s, and I had to basically explain everything that has gone on since last year... So Frustrating! So, he sent me for yet, MORE blood tests! :hammer: and yet, another referral to a different specialist - an Endocrinologist (who is will surely take another 8 weeks to get an appointment with!)
I swear to God, my arm is starting to like that of an IV drug user. My vein is all purple and deflated, and hurts like hell. But I still have no answers or any treatment plan in sight! I am walking out of the Lab when my Cell phone rings. It is the school nurse. 8 yo DS is in her office because he has been experiencing "a problem with frequent urination." WTH? so I go pick him up at school, take him to the DR. who says "well, sometimes boys have a temporary problem with frequent urination urge" and prescribes him something. We go to the pharmacy we always use. The pharmacist says "Well, I don't have that in stock! I haven't seen that prescribed in years!" Seriously, like I wrote the prescription, or have any GD clue what you carry in your pharmacy! I am so frustrated and exhausted, I just want to relax. But, DH has a certification course tonight, so I have to take "Mr has to pee every 5 minutes" to older DS's 3 hour chorus concert tonight! :hammer: Title: Re: So sick of Drs! I hate the runaround and having to explain things ten thousand times! Title: Re: So sick of Drs! Post by: HeatherH on May 12, 2008, 07:08:16 PM My almost 13 yr old DS has the same pee problem! He also seems to be outgrowing it.

I never even heard of this affecting kids before, though I guess frequent urination isn't something that comes up in conversation often! Does your DS take medication for it? I called around and found a different pharmacy that actually has the generic "detrol" the pediatrician prescribed... Now I have that commercial stuck in my head "gotta go, gotta go, gotta go right now!" Title: Re: So sick of Drs! Post by: HeatherH on May 14, 2008, 08:17:29 AM Does your DS take medication for it? No. His doc ran tests to make sure there weren't any underlying issues, but there's been no treatment or treatment plan. I don't know if he's figured out how to manage it better, if he's changed some habits, or if he's just outgrown it. Title: Re: So sick of Drs! Post by: nerdy on June 03, 2008, 08:31:55 AM I am honestly so sick of Drs my damn self. Most doctors don't listen and when they do listen, they think they've got the answer for everything...when really they're human beings like everyone else and obviously humans make errors.
My OBGYN diagnosed me with having PCOS (Poly-Cystic Ovarian Syndrome) and told me I had about a 15% chance of conceiving and giving birth to a child. Less than one month and one MRI later I was diagnosed with having MRKH and was apparently born with no uterus or ovaries leaving me with a 0% of conceiving and/or giving birth to a child. Of course I was (and still am) very emotional about that. Now 4 months after the diagnoses he won't return my calls...I'm alone and pissed the heck off.
